How can you offset your carbon emissions?

To reduce emissions across all sectors of the economy, companies are beginning to explore carbon offsetting.

The UK government was the first major economy to legislate to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Most companies are already reducing their carbon footprint but are left with a residue that needs to be offset. At SBM we have worked through the legislation to understand what it is saying and the requirements for companies directly from the source.

With a production of 1000 tCO2e per year, you would need 70 acres of woodland to cover 20% offset and gain control of your net zero journey.

The growing pressure on land from both woodland and agricultural demand has made the market increasingly tight.

SBM is offering a service for our clients to gain direct access to Woodland Carbon Units as a means to offset through:

  • A search for suitable land for woodland
  • Inspections of land and shortlisting opportunities
  • Assessment and analysis of carbon offset potential
  • Negotiation of terms
  • Certification Avenues for the woodland in securing woodland carbon credits
